She was born on 17th January 1950 in Mumbai and she belongs to an Irani, Zoroastrian family. They have two children a son Farhan and a daughter Zoya. They both are filmmakers. She began her career in Indian film industry as a child actress and accepted the character role in a film Chirag Kahaan Roshni Kahaan and another film Bombay Ka Chor.
